Laparoscopic Right Inguinal Hernia Repair With Mesh

Extreme pain took me to the emergency room. Dr. Rekkas was called/awakened from a sound sleep and responded, but when he arrived the hernia swelling had gone down and back into place. Dr. Rekkas gave me the option to go home that night, but recommended not prolonging repair surgery due to my age and the hernia being in the same place I had had open hernia surgery 40+ years ago.

I scheduled the surgery for seven weeks later, and Dr. Rekkas did the repair using the laparoscopic method which required making only 3 very small incisions and allowed me to go home the same day. While doing the right inguinal repair with mesh, he also checked on a left inguinal hernia mesh repair that had been done by the open method many years ago… finding all is well. The laparoscopic procedure resulted in much less pain, and I was able to discontinue pain medication the following morning.

The entire experience was handled with the highest level of professionalism and concern by Dr. Rekkas and Sam. Prior to surgery Dr. Rekkas answered all of our questions, and thoroughly explained the procedure and what to expect. I was very pleased with the experience and highly recommend Dr. Rekkas and his staff.

Laparoscopic Left Inguinal Hernia Repair

I would sincerely like to Thank Dr. Rekkas and his team for the professionalism that was shown to me for my Hernia repair surgery. From day one to the day of surgery I felt extremely comfortable having the procedure. Dr. Rekkas answered all my questions the day of surgery and I knew I was in very capable hands.

After the surgery the procedure was explained step by step to family in terms that assured me all had gone well. I had very little pain for about 1/2 hr. after surgery and after that no pain whatsoever. No surgery is fun but everyone from Dr. Rekkas’ office to everyone at Manatee Memorial Hospital made it so pleasant. It was as close to fun for a surgery as you can get.

Laparoscopic Bilateral Inguinal Hernia Repair with Mesh

I would like to express my sincerest gratitude to Dr. Rekkas and his staff for the care they provided during my recent surgery. The entire experience was handled with the highest level of professionalism and proficiency. Having had experienced a single hernia repair using the “open” method in 2000, I was pleasantly surprised at how much less painful it was to have the bilateral repair performed by Dr. Rekkas using the laparoscopic method. I was able to discontinue pain medication within a couple of days, not to mention only three ¼” incisions as opposed to the 5” long one from the open method.

Dr. Rekkas is an expert at the emotional care of his patients and their families as well. Prior to surgery he answered all of our questions and thoroughly explained the procedure and what to expect. After surgery he visited my wife twice in the waiting room while I was in recovery, reassuring her that all had gone well. His genuine concern was a tremendous help in reducing the anxiety that often accompanies an event of this nature.

I highly recommend Dr. Rekkas. His compassion and expertise are unsurpassed. He is truly an exemplary representative of the medical profession.

Laparoscopic Gastric Sleeve

I had gastric sleeve surgery Feb 5, 2014. My experience was so surprising. I thought I would hurt and not be able to walk well for a while. Quite the opposite has occurred, I barely felt any pain after surgery and was walking with ease as soon as I got into my personal hospital room. Once home I too felt little pain so little I can almost say I had none. I was walking constantly to ward off blood clots. The first Tuesday after my surgery I walked a mile on the Green Bridge. That is the first mile to many as I start my weight loss adventure. The gastric sleeve is the tool that is going to help me gain my goals.
