Dr. Stelios Rekkas MD FACS FASMBS

Dr Rekkas was raised in Anna Maria Island, Florida.  After graduating from Manatee High School he went on to graduate with high honors from the University of Florida.  He later went on to attended medical school  at Florida State University.  He completed his General Surgery residency was at Mount Sinai Medical Center and later completed a fellowship in Minimally Invasive, Bariatric, and Robotic Surgery at Jackson Hospital in Miami, Florida.  

He specializes in Minimally Invasive Surgeries that provide less scaring, pain and quicker recovery to his patients.  He also is one of the few surgeons in Florida that performs Robotic Surgery using the daVinci Robotic Surgery Platform.

  • Director of Bariatric Surgery at Manatee Memorial Hospital

Julie Chorley, PA-C

Julie earned her bachelor’s degree in management from the University of Tampa in Tampa, Florida. She received her master of science degree in physician assistant studies from South University in Tampa, Florida, where she also served as vice president of her class. She holds memberships in various medical organizations, including the American Academy of Physician Assistants, Florida Academy of Physician Assistants and American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery.

Margaret Adams, RD, LDN, CDE

Marmargaret_adamsgaret offers dietician services for diabetes education, heart disease and obesity counseling.

Margaret loves having the chance to develop long term relationships with patients and with helping them through the variety of healthcare needs that are common among bariatric surgery patients.

Margaret educates patients with diabetes, heart healthy meals, renal concerns, low salt diets, bariatric and weight reduction diets.

Candy assists Dr. Rekkas with his weight loss patients and supports them in preparation for the procedures.

Candy works with our patients to prepare them for their bariatric procedures and helping them through every step of their weight loss journey.

Candy’s role is very important.  She works with insurances, helps patients with their appointments and helps them with education that is key to a successful outcome.

Kimberlee Cummings

Kim is a Florida native with over 15 years’ experience as a licensed nurse. Kim provides and coordinates exceptional patient care, educates patients and provides advice and support to patients and their family members.  Kim is extremely attentive to detail and offers a kind and compassionate approach. She takes pride in being an advocate for optimal patient experience and outcomes within the practice.
